Are you an experienced Veterinarian with a strong surgical and consulting companion animal skill set, looking for your next adventure? Are you ready to take the next step in your career? We are seeking an experienced and motivated small animal veterinarian to join our busy Waipā clinics (Otorohanga and Te Awamutu) – where every day brings the opportunity to make a meaningful difference for the animals in our care and the people who rely on us.

This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week, plus rostered Saturdays. It’s an excellent opportunity to join a busy and experienced team, where every day brings meaningful veterinary work and opportunities to develop your career.

About the Role

As a Companion Animal focused Veterinarian, you’ll provide high-quality veterinary services to our Petfirst clients and their pets. This role allows you to maintain a strong clinical focus and build lasting relationships with clients and their animals.

You’ll bring strong organisational and client care skills, along with a well-developed companion animal skill set. Strengths in internal medicine, dentistry or imaging are a plus, and leadership opportunities exist for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be a collaborative team player, helping grow our Small Animal business and exploring new ways to deliver exceptional care and client experiences.
  • Provide top-quality veterinary care to companion animals ensuring their well-being and quality of life.
  • Deliver strong surgical and medicine services as part of a proactive veterinary team.
  • Work closely with a skilled nursing and support team to maintain high standards of care.

What You’ll Bring

  • NZ Veterinary Council Registration and Annual Practicing Certificate (or equivalency).
  • Bachelor of Veterinary Science with 5 – 7+ years’ experience in companion animal clinical practice.
  • Ability to handle complex cases professionally.
  • Warm, approachable personality, making both clients and colleagues feel valued.
  • Strong communication skills for smooth collaboration and clear guidance to pet owners.
  • While this role isn’t a leadership position, the right candidate may grow into a leadership role over time.
