Mixed Animal Veterinarian - Te Kuiti

Make a Real Difference | Join Our Team in Te Kuiti

Are you a confident Mixed Animal Vet with skills across sheep, beef, and companion animals? Looking to work in a dynamic environment where your days are varied and your contribution genuinely matters? Join our friendly, experienced team in Te Kuiti, located in the heart of the beautiful Waipa district.

We’re looking for a well-rounded veterinarian to step into a full-time (40 hours/week) position, which includes participation in a shared Saturday and on-call roster. For the right candidate we may also consider part-time hours (3-4 days per week). You’ll be part of a team that values collaboration, professional development, and delivering top-tier animal care across species.

About the Role

As a Mixed Animal Veterinarian, you’ll play a key role across all areas of our practice - supporting our large animal team in delivering high-quality care to the Waipa farming community and providing compassionate care to our Petfirst clients and their beloved pets.

This isn’t just a job - it’s an opportunity to be part of a passionate and tight-knit team, working in one of New Zealand’s most vibrant rural regions. You’ll be involved in a truly mixed caseload that reflects the diversity of our clients - farmers and pet families alike.

We’re looking for someone who’s enthusiastic about rural practice, enjoys working collaboratively, and values building strong relationships with both clients and colleagues. If you’re after variety, community connection, and the chance to make a real difference, this is the role for you.

To support a healthy work-life balance, our on-call roster is thoughtfully structured - with weekend duties typically just once every five weeks or less.

What You’ll Bring!

We’re looking for someone who’s as passionate about animals as we are and brings:

  • New Zealand Veterinary Council Registration and Annual Practicing Certificate (or equivalency enabling registration).
  • A Bachelor of Veterinary Science with 3+ years of experience in Mixed Animal Practice.
  • A clinical skill set including surgery and consulting with an ability and willingness to undertake sole charge as and when required.
  • A warm, approachable personality that makes both customers and colleagues feel valued and supported.
  • Exceptional communication skills, ensuring smooth collaboration with your team and clarity for pet parents.
  • A strong sense of compassion and empathy, treating every patient as if they were your own.
  • A team-first mindset, thriving in a collaborative environment where everyone supports each other.
  • Curiosity and a growth mindset, eager to embrace new skills and advancements in veterinary care.
  • Reliability and professionalism, ensuring your work is consistent, accurate, and of the highest standard.
  • A true commitment to delivering outstanding care that strengthens the bond between pets and their people.
