Large Animal (Dairy) Veterinarian - Darfield
Permanent, Full-time role
Ready to shape the future of dairy vetting and lead from the front?
We’re not your average vet clinics. We’re passionate, forward-thinking teams rewriting the rulebook on what it means to be a rural veterinary partner. And we’re on the lookout for a Large Animal Dairy Veterinarian to join our Darfield clinic located in the beautiful Selwyn region of New Zealand.
If you're looking for your next challenge, this is your chance to influence the future of agri-veterinary services – both on farm and in the wider industry.
What Makes Us Different?
We walk the talk when it comes to doing things differently. Here’s what that means:
- A proactive client base of legends - You’ll work with engaged, motivated farmers who value the relationship they have with their vet. These are people who want to collaborate and drive performance.
- Consulting that actually consults - We’ve built a system that champions on-farm conversations. Four times a year, you’ll sit down over a cuppa with each client to talk goals, growth, and how to get there together.
- The freedom to follow your passion - Whether your interest lies in leadership, business development, consultancy, or tech, we’re here to support your aspirations and help you carve out a pathway that lights you up.
- Cutting-edge tech meets on-farm know-how - Work with industry-leading vets in the agri-wearables space and be part of a team that's pioneering the future of vetting through innovation.
- Our own software, built by vets for vets - Meet Herbie, our in-house digital tool that gives you and your clients real-time insights, alerts, and streamlined animal health planning – all at your fingertips.
- Into Agritech and data? So are we. Let’s push boundaries together.
About the Role
We’re looking for a full-time experienced Large Animal Dairy Veterinarian who brings clinical excellence, strategic thinking, and a people-first mindset to our team. You’ll have the potential opportunity to take on leadership responsibilities, mentor junior vets, and help steer the direction of both our practice and the wider agri-vet sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide exceptional veterinary care with a focus on proactive herd health and performance.
- Lead farm consulting conversations that help clients set and achieve goals.
- Guide and mentor junior team members – we believe in growing together.
- Collaborate with farmers and teammates to deliver value-adding solutions.
- Engage in surgical procedures, diagnostics, and reproductive work as needed.
- Embrace leadership opportunities as they arise – including team coordination, project leadership, and strategic input.
- Participate in our shared after-hours roster.
What You’ll Bring:
- A veterinary degree and relevant registration to work in New Zealand.
- A minimum of 4 years’ experience in a large animal veterinary practice focussed on dairy veterinary - you’re confident and capable in both clinical and consulting environments.
- A passion for the NZ agri sector and a desire to lead meaningful change.
- Strong communication skills and a talent for building trust.
- A desire to grow others as well as yourself – mentoring and leadership come naturally to you.
- A curious mindset and willingness to explore new ideas and innovations.
