Graduate Mixed Animal Veterinarian - Te Awamutu

Graduate Mixed Animal Veterinarian - Te Awamutu

Do you want to hone your newly acquired clinical skills in a team that genuinely does things differently? If you're excited about growing a world-leading agri-vet future alongside our farmers, we want to hear from you.

At Farmfirst Veterinary, we back our grads. You’ll be surrounded by a team who’ll cheer you on, support your curiosity, and help shape a career that’s uniquely yours - whether that’s in consulting, tech, business, or clinical work (or a mix of it all).

Here’s what makes us different:

  • You’ll build relationships with clients who are legends. They want to work alongside you and are all about farm performance and better animal health.
  • We don’t just treat animals we influence, coach, and partner with farmers. You’ll have space to think, plan, and help farmers reach their goals through proactive consults (yes, we really encourage you to have a cuppa on-farm and talk about big-picture stuff).
  • You won’t be flying solo. You’ll work in a 1 Vet : 2 Tech model where our amazing Techs help turn plans into action - scanning, treatments, non-cyclers, and more. They’ve got your back.
  • You’ll get to use Herbie. Our custom-built Animal Health Planning software for Dairy Vets helps you stay connected to farm plans, alerts, and AH goals. It’s built by us, for us.
  • We’re into Agritech and data. Like, really into it. Our team is leading the way in wearable technology, real-time monitoring, and digital solutions on-farm.
  • Love companion animals too? No problem. We’ll make sure you get hands-on time with smallies as part of your graduate development.

About the role:

This is a full-time, mixed animal graduate position based in Te Awamutu, with a strong dairy/livestock focus. You’ll be providing hands-on clinical care, supporting herd health, and helping farmers raise happy, healthy animals. You’ll also play a big role in the success of our clients, and of our business.

You’ll be involved in:

  • Routine herd health work, scanning, non-cycler and repro programmes
  • Sick cow workups and treatment
  • Developing on-farm plans and supporting their implementation
  • Small animal consults and surgery (with plenty of support)
  • Building trusted relationships with our clients
  • Contributing to our after-hours roster as your confidence grows
  • Utilising your curious mindset to find new ways to make waves in the Agri Veterinary industry.

You’ll bring:

  • A Veterinary Degree recognisable in NZ and a current APC
  • A real passion for rural New Zealand and our farming future
  • Curiosity, enthusiasm, and a passion for problem-solving
  • A desire to learn and be part of a supportive, high-performing team
  • An interest in both large and small animals (we’re flexible!)
